Could be that the people answering your question are part of the 50 million who didn't vote for him. Or they could be one of the people who did vote him but have since changed their opinion of him due to events since the 2004 election.

Today it seems the majority have a dislike for his policies yet not so long ago the country cheered for his decision to go after those terrorists that caused 9/11 So goes the life of a politician. One day your on top, the next day the decks overturned and your on bottom. Just because one does not like a president it cannot adjust the balance of his term in office. In any representative group a decision made will make some happy, some sad, and some very angry. We have been facing the latter for quite a while it seems. A new president will be elected that might make you happy and others hateful of him / her. There might be times when you are upset and others not as well. Bush has done a great job for those he represents, unfortunately that doesn't include most of us.

The problem is most people cannot separate Bush, the person, from President Bush, our US President. Many people combine the two because they view both as the same. Think about this, is your boss the same when he/she's your boss against if you were at a party? Which one is the real person? Both!

As for Bush, as President, he hasn't been the best, not the worst, but not the best. As for Bush the person, I don't know, never met him or talked to him so I can't say.

They say that because these are people who have learned to separate the person from the office. For these people, it is OK to dislike George W. Bush or Bill Clinton, but these people respect the Office of the President. You can like the institution and remember that the man (or some day woman) is only temporarily the caretaker of what is the people's office. I would quietly shake the hand of either Bill Clinton or George Bush Jr. because they are among only a few dozen people who have held the office. They are my president right or wrong. I can criticize the man for a boneheaded policy decision (and frequently have), but I will respect the institution of the presidency itself.

Monday morning quarterbacks. They may not have voted Bush in the past or even liked him but when you are able to look back at almost 2 terms and pick the things out you really dislike it turns to a strong dislike or even hatred. Everybody can find a better way of doing something in the past but they are looking the wrong direction, shut up and look to the future and how to make it better.

Because the media is set on hating him and bashing him. they are controlled by the liberals as you can tell by the proliferation of similar answers from all of the "drive by" media. It doesn't bother them to spout halftruths to downplay Bush. I agree that Bush is no Reagan but he does have the economy moving in spite of the Federal Reserve Board's faulty policy of raising interest to fight inflation. The liberals have nothing constructive to offer so all they can do is spout negativism.

Moch,

Not everyone voted for him - obviously. Also, there are 'pockets' of conservatives and pockets of liberals. The Red and Blue designation for the states is well known. You may be asking folks who are in one (or the other) of these 'pockets'. I worked in a place full of liberals so everyone that I would talk to had the same type of response.

I don't like him either, but voted for him.
He was and is FAR SUPERIOR to anyone being nominated by the Democrats.
I think that will be the reality come 2008 also. Let's wait until then and see who will be nominated by each party before continuing THIS discussion.

Why is he the President? He was elected.

I think it's because he wasn't elected by the people you are asking. His presidency is sponsored by Corporate America, not true patriots.
