No. In 12 years of mending watches I have heard many people who claim they can´t wear watches because they stop on them or the run slow/fast but I have found that the problem is not the person. Every time it has turned out to be moisture, magnetism or a faulty watch.
It can not be the "electricity" (the most common claim in my experience) in the body because the case, dial and back act as a faraday cage.
magnets will make a quartz watch stop and a mechanical race but I don´t think the body could cause this. It has to be a strong magnet like speakers old TV sets transformers and those magnetic braclets people use for pains.
I am sure the most common problem is the old watches were not water resistant and sweat gets into the watch and rusts them, gets on the hairspring causeing them to race, or interupts the electricity from the battery. (buy yourself a stainless steel watch wich is at least 100m water resistant that has a screw type back and I am sure you will have no problems except the battery or real bad luck with a manufacuring fault)
I also think that some watch sellers claim that it is the customer when a watch they have sold does not work right and people want to believe that they are special and are more than willing to believe these less than honest dealers.
B·#!#@s people are told by sellers/repairers about watches:
overwound watch.
pocket watches, clocks yes possible but really rare but wrist watches no. Your watch just isn´t working and when you wound it up to the top it just hasn´t worked, it is not your fault it´s the watch.
special battery costing lots of money
No not right. If you are quoted more than 5 pounds then almost certainly you are being ripped off (the exception is renata 751)
send away to manufactorers to replace the battery.
find your self a watch repairer not a watch seller.
Water proof watches need special tool/sealing/etc.
find your self a watch repairer not a watch seller but for it to be garenteed expect to pay extra but get it in writing. The presure test machine is not expensive, from 200 pounds, and i dont see why any shop should not have one.
It isn´t difficult to do it right, just takes a little time to test the watch.

Playing Around: your dogs yawning could have been (and IMO likely was) a sign of frustration, confusion over what to do. Possessiveness: it is not uncommon for dogs to resource guard their people. Protection: while you had mixed results b/c of your acknowledged flaws in your experiment - when it happened for real, you said your dog KNOCKED DOWN the fondler. If that really happened, that can not be dismissed as non protective behavior. As for Greeks' quotes, In real life with a domesticated PET dog, the human/dog pack structure is not as rigid as it is among a pack of dogs in the wild. Dogs can and obviously DO 'start things' without the express order of "The" pack leader - in households, there isn't neccessarily a "The" pack leader. Generally, the structure will be made up of dominant, sub-dominant, and submissive members. It doesn't mean the dog neccessarily has 'serious pack structure' issues. While Greek is well respected and clearly an expert dog/police dog trainer, I wonder if his views are sometimes too myopic. The police dog training world is one thing - but it is not the same as the simple family pet dog world, any moreso than a soldier on active duty is the same thing as a civilian at home w/his family.

Making a mechanical analog watch run backwards is not possible because of the design of the escapement. There are people, though, who cannot wear such watches because they cause the watch to slow or stop. My father was one of these.

I can say absolutely YES 100% because it happened to me. I was given a watch for my ninth birthday and aft a day or two I saw it running backwards, I was convinced I d imagined it until it did it again, I told my mum who didn t want to know until one day I caught it happening and showed her. Finally believed she took it back to the shop who sent it off to the manufacturer. It returned with nothing found. Again my mum witnessed it happening, again it was returned, again they found nothing wrong.
Colin p above is utterly wrong it happens.

To say yes im absolutely sure that it is true, I would be lying, since i cant give you any examples. There are a lot of people who have a strong magnetic field in their body, so I would say this can affect a metal watch. There are a lot of strange things that happen to people, that are classified as unexplained, so I would say that it is very possible something like that can happen.
