Is intangible "Support the Troops" rhetoric a way to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Does it really support the troops? Why not do something tangible like a pay raise for enlisted ranks (E1 through E9)? Why don't you demand of our elected officials they provide the veterans benefits as promised or better yet increase veterans benefits across the board. Moral support is all fine and dandy, however it requires no effort whatsoever... why is it that talking is all many seem willing to do?

Special Note: to all the religious zealots why are you abusing God's name for your social agenda as a facade for supporting the troops?

If all the Republican and Democrat politicians are so gung-ho in their "support the troops" rhetoric, why has not one member of Congress objected or even commented on the Bush administration's cut of more than SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS from the Veterans' Administration annual budget?

"Support the troops" is a meaningless phrase in most mouths. It's like saying "Merry Christmas" to homeless people. Words mean nothing.

I don't care what party you favor, I don't care if you yourself spent time on Active Duty, I don't care how many Made In China magnetic bumper stickers you have, I don't even care if you send TONS of socks and blankets for the Red Cross to give to soldiers, the bottom line is this:

If you can't remember the last time you had a meal with someone in uniform, you do not support the troops. If you don't like that, tough.

Why did no democrat push for a pay raise for the troops ....but they added 17 Billion in pork to the supplemental bill..

(Even though the VA needs Help) the VA budget is 20% larger than the Clinton Budgets and also as a career miltary (24 years) , Clinton reduced the Military budgets by 39 % through the 90's......

Also the VA is not a Bush only issue , release your bias and blame both parties on that.

For most of us, it is more than just saying it. I thank every one I see, and if I see they have a need, and I have the resources, I try to take care of them. It's funny how the liberal left including John Edwards wants to turn everything into politics, and now every word uttered is a bumper sticker. That's why he and his supporters were only the second best Democrat in 2004 and still lost to Bush.

Was there a question in there somewhere?

*I do what I can by adopting soldiers and spending my money. Politics is politics but I do my part. :)
