Say my husband files and I contest the terms. So I then submit my terms. How would that be any different than If I filed and he contested the terms. And than submitted his terms.
Saying that either way I would be asking for the things.

It honestly doesn't matter who files first. It use to but now with the no fault divorce laws it doesn't do anyone any good to try and file first. If you can't agree on terms then a mediator will be appointed to settle this. It is always best to try and settle before going that route because his say is final. Each has a chance to submit what they want or feel is best, then it will go back and forth until everything is settled. Good Luck

I asked my lawyer the same question when I was going through a divorce. It doesn't matter who files, etc. You can argue back and forth until there is no going forward. Then you go to court for a jury trial. The advantage is that the plaintiff's attorney will be the last person the jury hears from before deliberation. That's the only place it comes into play (in Georgia according to my lawyer) Hope I helped!

It doesn't matter who files first. You both will be going to court and fighting with lawyers and probably not getting what you want any way.
