Most boundary surveys are priced based on the legal description of the property, not the acreage. There are many surveyors that give a flat rate per survey, but if you hire one of these, it's likely that you won't get the quality of product that you may want. In order to make money, the surveyors who quote flat rate fees make up for their losses by doing large quantities of surveys every day. It could be that you would end up with a lawsuit if you try to use one of these "quicky" surveys to build a fence or sell your property. If you pay less than $500 for a boundary survey, I could almost guarantee you that you would be getting an inferior product. Some of these guys will break the law in order to make a profit. Most surveyors are honest, but there are those you have to watch out for.
