A friend of mine told me that both "Terminator" and "Matrix" were written by the same woman. I'm not sure what his source is...I always thought that James Cameron wrote Terminator, but maybe not.

In terms of special effects, they were movies ahead of its time or they set the precedent, but otherwise, no.
