Hi, I've just bought a Renault Laguna and a Renault Grand Scénic. I bought them used and they only come with one key card each. It says in the manual to bring the car to the dealer with the card for the vehicle and the one to configure. Could I buy one on ebay and match it to my car myself, avoiding dealer costs?
Thanks.

It is the car that has to be programmed to recognise the key, and not the other way round.

It used to be possible to buy keys from e-bay and get the car programmed by a dealer to recognise it, but there were a number of car thefts so Renault have tightened their procedures.

You now have to order the key-card from a Renault dealer, and then get the car programmed to recognise it.

As far as I know it is a dealer item as they control the access for security sake. However you might try calling around to various locksmiths to see if they can do this for you.

Sorry, but it's a dealer only job, unless you invest in £20,000 worth of computer equipment.
