firstly, i'd like to state that green day, 30 seconds to mars, my chemical romance etc are not underground since they have broken out into the mainstream arena.

note that these are in no specific order:
1. my life with the thrill kill kult
2. bile
3. combichrist
4. nightwish
5. revolting cocks
6. morbid angel
7. suicidal tendencies
8. bif naked
9. faith no more <- arguably underground, but still great!
10. dream theatre

there should be at least one band in there that you'll appreciate (i tried to be as diverse as possible).

Here's just a few off the top of my head.

Sikth
Poison the Well
Bloodjinn
Candiria
Daath
The Destro
Dillinger Escape Plan
Dog Fashion Disco
Dredg
Freya
Nuclear Rabbit
Soul Embraced

I don't know how "underground" these bands are. Depends on how into the music scene you are.
