Typically you should try to gain only 25-35 pounds during pregnancy anything above that will just be fat you are putting on yourself. If you are hungry try eating something healthy like fruit or food with lots of fiber. You havn't gained to much yet; but just be mindful of how much you eat and what you eat. I am at week 36 and a half and I have gained 18 pounds. I was overweight before I got pregnant so I have been shooting for the lower weight gain as I really don't want the added weight to lose afterward.

For a normal weight woman, a good weight gain during pregnancy is between 25-35 lbs. For overweight women, weight gain should be kept on the lower side (around 25lbs) and for an underweight woman, weight gain should be more (around 35 + lbs.)

That being said, what is normal? Every woman is different and will gain weight differently. Just be sensible about what you put in your body, and make sure you are walking and drinking water all the time!

I am 21 weeks along, and I have gained 11 lbs. My doc wants me to keep my weight gain to a minimum since I started out a little overweight.

27 pounds in the first 23 weeks is a lot, even if you weren't a little overweight to start with. Much of the weight gain in pregnancy comes in the later weeks. What does your doctor say? Don't just start dieting, since that could be a problem for you and for the baby, but get advice from your doc on weight gain/control.

My doctor has been very happy with my weight gain but now that I hear everyone talking about the amount of weight they have gained I worry a little bit. I am 38 weeks pregnant and have only gained 18 total. I have actually thinned out in my legs, arms, neck and back. Granted I was 207 when I got pregnant. My doctor told me that when I leave the hospital after giving birth I will probably 1 or 2 sizes smaller than I was when I got pregnant. That just shows you how the amount of weight you gain during pregnancy varies from case to case. Even though your doctor has not said anything bad about it, have a long conversation with him/her about your concerns. Only your doctor knows whats best for you.

no your not gaining too much well I dont really know cuz I am 33 weeks and 4 days and I went from 155 to now 195 but I have been losing weight the last 2 months.. Have you done any walking.. I know its hard but ur only 23 weeks and are near where I am.. It will be hard to get it off. I suggest you to start walking thats why I have been losing here lately it wont hurt your baby dont worry just make sure your well hydrated.. But I wont worry soon you will get a high boost of energy like I have now and you wont want to sit down... You will want everything in the house perfact and that causes you to work and be more motivated to move around... Trust me...

Hmmm. Thats what 27 lbs in 23 weeks. It is a little much so quickly. Try to lower your calorie intake and walk alot. Be sure to drink a ton of water. I gained most of mine in my 2nd trimester. I was around where you are. Just dont go over board and make sure you take care of yourself. Dont stress too much about weight, enjoy the pregnancy. Eat healthy, and just dont indulge too often.
You'll be fine.

Congrats!

BTW- I was 150 when I got pregnant (Im 5'4) I am currently 196. Got weighed yesterday. 46 lbs in 37 weeks is not too bad, my pregnancy has been perfect, no problems and my doc hasnt mentioned 1 thing to me.

You haven't gained to much as of yet, but you're heading that way since you still have about 16 weeks to go and alot of the weight is gained during the last trimester. If you're concerned, talk to you doctor about how to slow the weight gain. You don't want to stop gaining or lose though. It's not good for the baby.
