some other things can come before a fall too: success, happiness, stgability. and of course a fall can also come just when you thought things couldn't get any worse.

but pride is a good indicator that someone's gonna 'get theirs'. either the universe will balance itself out, the yin and the yang will mete out their own version of justice, or someone somewhere will be jealous of a proud person and set them up for a fall. either way, the mirror mirror on the wall will tell you everything you want to hear, except where and when the fall will arrive.

Yes in a way it does. If you move up the scale, whether it be class, work, forces ranks, or whatever, the higher you go the harder the fall if you drop down again. You have to be pretty self assured to take the necessary risks to rise in the first place. With the self-assuredness and the rise in fortune and/or esteem, comes the arrogence or pride. You're fond enough of yourself to get up there? Then when the fall comes be assured that pride was there before it!

In my view what it really is trying to do is give 'advice'

We all have pride, in its right place pride is useful it makes you pay attention to detail.

Pride in our apperance encourages us to wash etc (bit corny but I'm sure you get the gist)

The point being not to allow your pride to blind you to other views and perspectives. If you are not prepared to listen to others who may have wider experience then you may make a decision you regret.

An over simplied example would be to assume you can drive a car safely without having lessons. You may have gained knowledge of how to start and drive the car, but controlling the vehicle in unexpected situations is a different matter.

So 'let your pride go' before you make a bad mistake that you regret.

Maybe or maybe not but pride always results in a fall sooner or later. Pride goes before destruction, it breeds only quarrels, it comes before disgrace and God hates pride. In Isaiah 2, the bible says the arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.

Pride is not the foremost reason responsible for a person's fall.Often pride is associated with arrogance, contempt and over-confidence.however,having pride up to a certain limit is necessary for a person's mental and emotional well being.

It's not uncommon to find a person brooding over his losses and using addictions to cover up his fallen hurt pride.A fallen man can have an unbroken pride which will inspire him to try again but a man with a fallen pride has already accepted defeat before entering into the battlefield.Fall of pride should not never happen for it opens the path of us being victims of another proud human.Similarly too much pride makes a person complacent, lazy and dilutes his inner wisdom to estimate other's potential or take decisions seriously.

It's the golden rule -excess of pride leads to fall just as excess of everything is bad.

The actual saying is from the Bible. It says pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. It's in Proverbs.

If you are too proud to ask for help the consequences could be minute such as "how do you make a sandwich?" or they could be monumental such as " how do you shut down thermo nuclear reactor?"

A teacher once told me, "He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes. He who never asks is a fool forever."

My son called me a "woos" while we were hiking. I said "Oh yeah! I'll race you down the mountain." Five steps later my leg snapped. It took three hours to get me off of the mountain and to a hospital. So yes, I believe pride really does come before a fall.

I humbly submit to you that "Pride goeth before a fall"

People who are overconfident or too arrogant are likely to fail. This saying is adapted from the biblical Book of Proverbs.

Pride is considered the original and most serious of The Seven Deadly Sins. It is cause for eternal damnation. People sentenced to hell for committing the sin of Pride spend eternity being broken on the wheel.

Does that answer your question?
