I would still love the cover for what it was, but be disappointed by its contents....

Well, since you had such high expectations for the book based on its cover, it's understandable to feel disappointed. If I hated the book's contents with a passion stronger than the passion I had for its beauty, then I would probably throw it out. I don't know if I would rip out the pages to rewrite the book, because it wasn't my story. Maybe the beauty of the cover would inspire me to write a completely different story-- one "to match the cover" as you said. My writing capabilities would probably not do it justice, so I would try to find another book one that had all qualities I desire.

Once the book is printed - u cant really do much abt it in terms of rewriting n stuff!...... if i dislike wots inside the book then its definately sure that i would get over my so called 'love' for the cover!!! - time to go shopping again i guess - anyway the shopping part is so much more fun than the buying ! ;)

I don't think that rewriting is an option. Once a book is written it is finished. You just have to move on to the next book. No point in keeping a book you don't enjoy reading! ;)

Really good question. But in order for the inside to match the outside, the book has to rewrite its own disceprancies.
How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light-bulb?
Only one- but the light-bulb has to really want to be changed.

well sometimes you have to just let go of the way the cover looked. I mean the cover is what got your attention, but there has to be some substance to what is on the inside in order to KEEP your attention... right? What is on the outside can always be a little deceiving, but you have to trust yourself enough to figure out whether or not is worth your time, energy and effort to pursue....

um, no i wouldnt throw the book out. i wouldnt fall for a cover, and even if i did, i wouldnt fall enough where i couldnt walk out without the drama(this would actually be some sort of infatutation than actual love). i wouldnt try to rewrite the book or tear it out, the whole point in falling in love is falling in love with the actual person. people dont appreciate you trying to change them without their approval.

We would read the whole damn thing, or at least a hundred pages of it. This is where we find out just how much we love it. Regardless we would not toss it out. We would not destroy it. We would place it in our library and let it gather dust, along with our other loves, only diff been I am more likely to come back to a fav then a dud.

You will then appreciate the saying all the more and never repeat the folly of falling in love with the book cover without verifying the contents in it. That is called growing wise and realising the depth in adages......

Return the book and get a new one - this time, check the inside of the book before deciding on it.
