Art is often very subjective. Which means that the artist
can be creating art based on authentic self-perception.
The observer and the artist can have different perceptions,
and that is why some art might appear to lie, but it is
often truthful from the artist's perspective.

Well, I wouldn't say that artworks are lies at all... they are pure truth, describing emotions and feelings. There is nothing false about art.
