I too am petrified of death.
For me, i'm afraid of what will happen next. How do we feel when we die? Will our spirit go on? Will it feel as if we are in a deep sleep? Is there even an afterlife? Or will we be no more, just a forgotten memory. What scares me the most is...is there a heaven or a hell? Is there even a God? What if I have lived my life a certain way, only to die and find out that everything I did was meaningless in the end?
The thought of reincarnation gives me both hope and dismay. What if I come back to earth as a deer or something?

I assume that it`s the concept of Death itself that frightens you and not the prospect of a particularly horrible death. No, I`m not afraid to die but that doesn`t mean that I`ll get on my Bike and ride like a madman. As for reincarnation, I find that belief to be the most logical of all the systems of belief that I`ve come across. I mean, how could one possibly learn everything that you`ll need to know in this one ( very short in cosmic terms ) life if after it you have to exist for eternity in some Heaven or other ?. As well ask a child to learn everything that he/she will need for life by just going to school for only the first day !. I know that your fear is real to YOU but try and live life instead of worrying about something that`s probably years in the future.

So funny I was just talking about this a couple of days ago....I'm not afraid of death itself, but it's not knowing how i'm going to die and when!! Like I could die in a couple of mins and not even know...now that's scary!! But then again if you know you living your life right and living it to the fullest shouldn't be afraid of death.

Honestly it changes every few days. As a Christian I believe if I fall short of doing what is right, then I am expected to repent in order to gain a reward after this life. Somedays, I feel on top of this, other days: not so much. Ultimately, I believe that God is just and his judgements are just and all will receive rewards based on their knowledge and resulting actions, faith, works, intentions all things considered, etc. This gives me peace.
I do not believe in re-incarnation, to take again a physical body in this sphere. I believe there is a new beginning to a new life (Heaven, Nirvanah, whatever a person wants to call it) because we will have gained all we needed to here during our one time.

Death is a normal part of life and the older you get, the less it bothers you.
Just enjoy what you have now and don't worry too much about later.
It is accepted scientific fact that you can neither create, nor
destroy energy. In consequence, I believe that the energy, that is our life force (Soul?) just moves on to another place.
Other than that I am quite happy to wait and see.

No. When I die I will be with Jesus. Absent from the body and present with the Lord. To a Christian who knows the Lord, we are not afraid of death. I do not believe in reincarnation. I believe this earth is just a tiny matter compared to eternal life with my Lord. I look forward to heavenly things. This is the hope that only Jesus Christ can give to us that death has no sting if we believe in Him.
What you need is Jesus. We all need the Lord. May He reveal Himself to you.

I'm not afraid of dying in general--we all have to do it at some point. I am, however, afraid of dying young and not being able to see my children grow up, and also of dying of a long, painful illness.

When I get to Pamplona and the bulls are running at me my answer may be different but at the moment I am not as afraid of dying as not having really lived.

Death comes to those whose life abides in death because of sin. God never created mankind to die but when he created Adam and Eve he gave them one command, "Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you do, you shall die." They didn't listen, Eve obeyed the voice of the enemy of her soul and he took and ate and gave also to Adam and he did eat cursing His offsprings as well as the world. He handed the title deed to this world to Satan and God had to find a righteous seed to once again redeem the world back to himself. He sent Christ to be punished and die so that you and i could be releast from this curse and to be redeemed back into the loving care of the one who created us and to restore fellowship that was once lost. Now we can come to Christ and the fear of death and the stain of sin forever removed and God places His peace and love within us and gives us power to live righteous and holy lives until he calls us home to be with him but to those who reject Christ the fear remains and there is no truth in reincarnation, it is a lie from hell and the only way to escape death is by coming to the giver of life-Jesus Christ...
