If you are thinking about this as a pet, try http://www.russiantortoise.org for lots of good info.

A typical clutch is about 1-5 biggish eggs (2-3 is the norm), and usually only one a year in the spring (this is typical of turtles.)

Diet is generally dry, fiberous plants with little if any fruit- and that is mostly berries. The site above has a great diet page.

Hi, I have a pair of hermanns, they eat garden weeds, dandilions, bind weed etc. Im not sure though if horsefields are the same. A good website to try is called shelled warriors, they have some great advice about different tortoises and there website will also lead you to other useful sites. They should also help you out with the clutches of eggs question. You will probably need an incubator though which aren't cheap, (if you find a good cheap one then let me know, lol). Hope this has helped a little.
