That party already exists. It's called the Libertarian party and ironically, it has ideals held by a large portion of American citizens. Sadly though, they won't get elected in the two-party dominant system we have today.

If you're fiscally conservative and socially liberal then you're a libertarian, good luck electing one of those. The Democratic party is liberal enough to make things work. What I mean is when you stick to straight liberal plans you have a perfect plan. The laws like HCR will pay themselves off in the next ten years and give the nation a surplus. You also won't be wasting money on war. Fiscal conservatism like giving tax breaks to the rich is what gives us a deficit. It's a horrible system. The problem with trickle down economics is the rich gets a flood and the rest of us gets nothing but a trickle. -Bill

That is close to our Libertarian party. But the Libertarian party stresses personal responsibility which is an alien concept to most "socially liberal" people.

I agree! Both parties suck. Conservatives base way too much on religion, and Liberals base too much on socialism and big government. We need something more moderate that takes the actual needs and desireas of average middle of the road Americans into consideration and not the extreme wishes of minority groups. I cannot think of one good candidate for president for 08!

You may be from north of the border, but you have been paying attention. The problem is that you are asking to have your cake and eat it as well: "socially libersl" policies have a nasty habit of costing money -- usually a lot of it. The net result is usually a compromise that ultimately pleases no one, but that most people can live with -- grudgingly.

""That sounds like the majority of the Democratic party to me. ""
lol democrats politcians are NOT fiscal conservatives.
Libertarian fits that but libertarians support a few things taht
the majority of americans do not and that limits electability.

It already exsists in the libertarian party. Us Americans have a problem with voting outside of the two parties though.

We just need to stop sending money to political party machines like RNC, stop electing 'professional' politicians, and start supporting only individual candidates who can walk the walk.
