Would I need a rooting hormone?

not likely... the process takes too long if u ask me! just take a low branch, make a small cut in it,(not all the way through it) bury the cut end in the dirt, and put a rock over it so the tree don't pull it back out, and within about two to three weeks it will have rooted and u can cut it away from the tree and u got urself a new snowball bush! u can add some rooting hormone to the cut section to speed up the process if u'd like!

you could do it if you added rooting hormone, or the soil you plant it in is incredibly rich.
