customer service representative (CSR)
front-end associate
P.O.S. operator (point of sale)
register clerk

How about Customer Service Representative? Or Sales Associate? Or Transaction Associate?
But you know what? There is nothing wrong with "cashier." It's an honest and useful job. Why not write something about how well you did your job, instead. If you're looking to move up, tell them what skills or attributes you would bring to a new position. Good luck.
