But what is this "emo" stuff I hear about?
Is it misic, a look, ???

Somebody fill me in???

Here is a great definition from the urban dictionary:
An entire subculture of people (usually angsty teens) with a fake personality. The concept of Emo is actually a vicious cycle that never ends, to the utter failing of humanity, and it goes something like this:

1. Girls say they like "sensitive guys" (lie)
2. Guy finds out, so he listens to faggy emo music and dresses like a dork so chicks will see that he is sensitive and not afraid to express himself (lie). He dyes his hair black, wraps himself in a stupid looking scarf, develops an eating disorder, and rants about how "nobody understands".
3. Now an emo guy, he meets Emo chick and they start dating, talking about how their well-off suburban lifestyles are terrible and depressing (lie)
4. Emo guy is just too much of a *****. His penis is too small, he's too depressed to bathe, and has more mood swings than emo chick, and he doesn't even have a menstrual cycle. Emo chick dumps him, saying "It's not you, it's me." (lie) as she drives off with Wayne, the school jock and captain of the football team.
5. Emo guy goes home and cries, proceeds to write a weak song and strum a single string on his acoustic guitar. Another emo chick sees how he is so in touch with his feelings, and the cycle continues.

This is the sad truth of the emo lifestyle/music, and now that I look at how pathetic it really is, maybe the emos DO have something to cry about!

When she sees how sensitive and emo I have become, she'll definately go out with me!

Emo can be alot of things... It stands for EMOTIONAL. It is a type of music and it's also known to be a style... Basically heart broken songs, in punk rock form. Alot of people can't stand "emos" but I just think it's overrated. Emo kids are known to be whiney, cry all the time, paint their nails black, boys wearing girl pants... and black hair all in their face.. with black eyeliner. Like I said.. it's overrated!

Emo started in the eighties with the band Dinosaur Jr. The emo genre of music gained popularity in the late nineties and early 2000's with the rise of bands like Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World and to some extent, Taking Back Sunday and The Used. The lyrics are typically emotional and geared towards teenage angst. Like most genres of music, emo spawned a sub-culture of teens who dress and behave in a certain way. The long hair over one eye, tight skinny jeans and mostly black clothing is stereotypical emo attire. Contrary to popular belief, not all kids who identify with the emo culture cut themselves. Self-mutilation is a self-destructive behavior usually found in teenage girls who are battling depression. "Cutters" and emo kids are mutually exclusive as one identity can be present without the other. Emo is a stereotype and they tent to have long black hair that they sometimes vut themselves...Some have lip rings. and the wear band shirts and really tight jeans. Thats what i know about them..and some are always depressed.
