Easy. Just do what the anti-abortionists do: Use the power of suggestion
to try to kill your enemies via heart attack.

First: Killing in a country where life is cheap is, well, cheap. What's the point? If you're going to commit the perfect murder why do it where it's easy. If I were simply in the game to see if I could get away with it, I'd test it out on some easy targets. Being white, middle-class, college-educated, employed and female helps, as this demographic not only is the least likely, statistically, to commit murder, it's also the demographic that tends to create the least suspicion in the eyes of the authorities. Next, the murder would have to be random. The first thing that the police look at is those connected to the victim. However, the victim can't be too random. With the homeless, they tend to have no ties to the community and are subject to random violence all the time. You'd have to pick someone who's not completely on the fringe of society, but someone who has enough of a nefarious background that the police would look elsewhere for the usual suspects. Biker gang, neo-nazi, drug dealer. These people tend to hang out with violent types and yet have enough ties that there are suspects to keep the eyes off a third party (like you). If you use that method, a violent death is preferable. If it's too "smart," it's bound to get the authority's attention. There's also the "Dexter" method of making sure that the body is never found. If you wanted to go for the really challenging kill, you'd have to do it in such a way that the murder doesn't look like murder. Oh, you have to love the American obesity. "Heart problems" are such an easy excuse. Pick someone old and with few contacts, or with family members that might very well be looking forward to the death (wealthy old guy with middle-class children). Then befriend and slip a dose of foxglove. Yes, it can be detected, but only if you look for it. The symptoms pose as heart attack. Easily available (you can grow it in your front yard... very pretty flower, actually), and with an old person the chance of an autopsy is slim to none. Just make sure that YOU don't benefit from the death in any way. Yeah... I'm a writer and a murder-mystery fan. It's an occupational hazard of reading this stuff. Oh, and your suggestion of using pre-anesthesia? Bad idea. Shows up on a number of random toxicology tests that are bound to be run if anyone asks for an autopsy. OOPS: I'm a Capricorn. And for the record, ice bullets don't work. It was busted on Mythbusters.

With all the forensics we have now, it's just about impossible to commit a perfect murder.

random person, somewhere where no one thinks you are in a self contained suit (bio hazard, radiation). weapon of choice unregistered shotgun (easily obtained in most southern states at flea markets or gun shows), shotguns would be preferred because ammo is untraceable, retrieve cartridge and disappear...and remember to always have an alibi
