I asked the same question on my blog...
This story seems so suss, the parents left the kids alone and the kid got snatched, No other kids get this much ransom money from such high profile people...Normal parents don't fly around the world and exploit there children like this pair, Real parents are worried and need the family around them and search for the child in any way that they have available to them......Using religon is one way to get rid off guilt, but yes the pope it is a bit OTT.....

The Pope, like any other personality in the world, has a limited daily schedule to meet with other people. His meeting with the parents of a missing girl was just an exception.

Because normal parents wouldn't have been irresponsible enough to let the kidnapping occur in the first place, wouldn't be jet setting around the world and eating up the publicity that they're getting. Normal parents wouldn't be exploiting and hiding behind their religion for sympathy. Normal parents would be sitting by a phone waiting for a ransom call.

these people shouldn't have any special privleages. if i know the story correctly. they left this little girl and twin 2-year olds alone in the hotel. and now the girl is gone. the parents should be in jail-not meeting with the pope.

It just happens to be a high profile case in that area of the world, it would be impossible to meet with every parent who has lost a child. It would be like asking Bush to meet with every family who has lost a son or daughter in Iraq, even though he would never do it.

A better question would be...Who in the hell leaves toddlers in a hotel room while you go out to have dinner? Isn't that a crime as well?
