What are the best investments to get into right now? I want something with a solid return, but yet not so risky that I need to watch over the market..etc etc

Take a gander at something like this: IOO (S&P Global 100), NY (NYSE 100), IYY (DJ Total Market), and ISI (S&P 1500). Do a distribution across these and they form a net that will likely protect your interests well if the broader stock markets continue to increase. This is the stuff of long run investing, not trading. You buy it and go on with your life, not having to check the stock ticker every 15 minutes. These cover such comparatively firm territory that you could essentially buy it and forget it (or at least until the dividend distributions are made).

in the near future, the most solid will be a traditional savings account. ING has good APR. set up an auto pay of however much you can save each week, even 10 bucks a week adds up over a year.
