The bump is typically a buildup of fluid, it should dissapear within 6-8 weeks of delivery. if it's seriously concerning you, you can go talk to another doctor and get another opinion.

Well, being insecure about it means you will keep and eye on it! Some babies this does take a while to go away...and some it's gone before they leave the hospital.

I'd say, if it's still there when you visit the pediatrician at 3 months, they need to at least give you an explanation...or something. My son's head was only tender and did not bump...and a friend her daughter had a conehead for 2 months.

The plates in a baby's head do not fuse together for many many years...so you have plenty of time and their shape will change over the next several years.

But I'd say if still VERY noticeable at 2-3 months...the doctor needs to do something, or at least explain things better. For your piece of mind at least.

My son had to have a vacuum assisted birth, so did my niece, the bump bothered my sister and I for a long time. We used hats. Both kids are smart and healthy and are much better off than if they had had to have emergency C-sections. There are horror stories, if you look hard enough you can find a good reason NOT to give birth at all, but don't worry, the bump will go away (you will always kinda "see" it, I think it is psychologically damaging to the mom).
