Three months ago my wife had a fall and had a concussion, she works in Health Care and has been told she cannot return to her work while she has vertigo.
Does anybody know how long these vertigo spells will last and do they improve?

It was a minor head injury, cat scans were normal

I've had a couple concussions. Days (3-4) at most for a major concussion that does not require hospital care should be long enough for the body to heal. However, even for months afterward, depending on the weather and my stamina of the day (diet and exercise), I would get headaches.

The vertigo is normal for a concussed person, while the brain is swelling, and for shortly thereafter. Chronic vertigo is not a condition of the concussion I would say. The doctors should be looking for another cause, which may have been brought on by the fall and concussion. I would immediately expect inner ear damage.

Well I was involved in a major severe car accident on 10/14/06 and then in a induced coma for 4 days....I have My head is numb on the top and side, nausea, dizziness, and exhausted Since October 24, 2006. Well I am in therapy for loss of balance....dizziness...and physical and occupational therapy. But all I would do is what you are doing right now ....until I went back to the Doctors office. Besides I am seeing a Head Trauma Specialist. He recommended therapy. I've been going since the 01/02/07. I am taking sleeping pills because I wasn't sleeping right. I am doing exercises for the dizziness....It is working. I am walking some without the Wheel Chair some. I also use a cane. They see progress. So why don't you go to the doctor and have him recommend you go see a head trauma doctor. Also a Neurologist . If therapy doesn't work. Then you need another CAT SCAN and an MRI done to see what else is going one. So please go back to the doctors asp .

There are medications to help stop vertigo. Ask the doctor for one of those. I find that vertigo always starts in the neck. I recommend you have your wife go to a chiropractor as soon as possible. The chiropractor is going to find the problem and start treating it immediately. She could be over the vertigo very quickly.

Further tests should be conducted. There must be a reason for her continued vertigo. Maybe consider seeing another doctor.

Ive had a few of those.Vertigo is at times quite scarry.I was given a script called-"circ" which eleviates condition but not the cause.Wax in ear can produce same imbalance.A stong antibiotic would clear up any "infection".

I agree with the others. This is not from a mild concussion.
