What is your opinion of the idea ? We did and it went into effect today. We have 2 phones & 2 phone #'s. I hope we have done the right thing. Now we can travel and keep in touch anywhere at anytime. We never talk while driving. NEVER EVER~~~Jill

My husband and I have not had a land line since 2003. We don't miss it a bit. We have a plan that is 39.95 a month with 650 anytime/anywhere minutes and free minutes after 9PM and on weekends. No long distance, no roaming charges. It is great. We don't have to use 800 numbers. Don't miss out land line a bit and our phone bill used to be outrageous especially with all the added taxes and other charges.

I have friends that have done that, and I'm considering dropping my landline as I really don't need it (because i have a cell). I could take that landline money and do something else with it...but I'm a procrastinator.
The only problem where I live (FL), is during hurricane season if the cell phone towers go down, we may end up out of touch for a while. After Ivan some cell services weren't working, but our landlines still were.

I don't have a land line. Had one for a while, but it wasn't useful and I was always getting calls for other people. BQ~I'm not sure where the nearest payphone is around here. I recently learned that there are not pay phones in or close to state government buildings because of threat of terrorism. I remember that was one place you could always find one. Good morning

I had Vonage and paid very little but this got out of hand since we all had cells in the house so we went straight cell. Why pay for two numbers? Also your number goes with you where ever you go the only down side is 911 calling.

The only draw back of not having a house phone is dialing 911. You may not reach your local dispatch and instead you'll reach the state police or a surrounding town. They will transfer you to the correct department but precious time could go by waiting to be transferred. I know from first hand experience.

I only have a cell. When i had a land line, the only people who would call me were telemarketers. It got to the point where i wouldnt even look at the phone when it rings. So i got rid of it. About 4 months and it works great.

When I moved out of parents house I didn't get a land line. It saves me a ton of money because of the free long distance and the fact that I only have to pay for 1 line and not 2.

Yes, for 3 years. Then we got a landline again only for home emergencies and all that ever called it were telemarketers. I don't even answer the phone, I just call out when my cell phone is high on minutes or low on battery.

No, I have phones coming out my ears!
I have a business phone, home phone, cell phone and my husband has a phone. I will always keep my home phone because of my long distance plan, it is excellent.
