There are four of every card in a deck. The deck counts up from Ace (the lowest, although it can be considered the highest in some games) to King (the highest). The deck goes in this order: Ace (sometimes), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King. The Jack, Queen, and King can stand for 11, 12, and 13 in that order. There are also two Jokers in a standard deck, however those don't count as regular playing cards. Each value (2, Jack, Ace, etc.) has four types. There is Clubs, Spades, Diamonds, and Hearts.

There are 52 cards, and 4 suits. There are four of each card, each a different suit. There are 2-10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace. That makes 13 times four, which is, ta da, 52. The suits are Spades, Clubs, Hearts, and Diamonds.

The Queen of Hearts,
She made some tarts
All on a summer's day.
The Knave of Hearts,
He stole the tarts
And took them clean away.
The King of Hearts,
Called for the tarts
And beat the Knave full sore.
The Knave of Hearts,
Brought back the tarts
And vowed he'd steal no more.
