The Yankees will finish 2 to last in the A.L. East, just ahead of Tampa, TAMPA BAY folks. They are going to get sweap by the Blue Jays who haven't done anyhting since 1993 in the World Series against the Phillies, you can thank Joe Carter for that one, well thanking Mitch Williams is more deserved, and Baltimore is playing better than they Yankees right now, and have a winning record against then this season so thats all I need to say about that. And NO ONE is going to catch the Red Sox, plain and simple. With a record of 36-15 (21 games over .500) and that line up and roation from top to bottom is unreal and with Youk hitting the way that he is, I'm thinking you can say he is "on fire", and the scary thing is that Manny hasn't even wormed up and when he does, good god look out and Papi is back tonight in the starting line up, did you even know he was sitting out the last 3 games resting? Probably not unless you are a Red Sox fan. And here is why they are going to finish at the spot in which I just said;

1. Abolsulty no pitching - all of there starters this year are aweful, no pen whats so ever and going back to previous play I talked about, Mitch Williams, their arms are going to be dead and already are and look at how many new starting pitchers they have used this season. And I hate to inform all you terrible Yankee fans out there, the Rocket isnt going to do anything for you. Which leads me to my next point.

2. The Rocket - he is going to be 45 in June and by the look at his Minor Leagure starts, hahahahah i think thats all i can say. He just looks tired out there on the mound and isnt the pitcher that he use to be period. Hell he threw only 105 pitches in 5 2/3 innings. Wow, have fun yankees.

3. A(GAY)-Rod - Here is A-Rods career in a nut shell, he has a hot April, slumps in May and June and then has a so-so July and a pretty good August and September but when the calender hits October he just dies and fall of the face of the earth (i.e. 2004, 2005, and 2006).

4. Fielding - The defense behind the pitcher isn't what you would expect coming from the yankees.

5. Offense - Ray Charles could do a better job at hitting the baseball right now than the NY Yankees. That may sound harsh but look that there record right now in the East and individual stats, enough said.

So takeing all that into consideration you will realize two things; 1. They are going to finish just ahead of Tampa, god i love hearing that everytime and doesn't get old and 2. $200 Million can buy you a nice line up on paper but once they play they look like little leaguers.

Go Red Sox!!!!

The Yankees have too much talent to finish in last place. Over the long haul of the season I expect perennial underachievers like Baltimore and Tampa Bay to do worse. Nevertheless the AL East is a tough division and playing Toronto and the Sox routinely will not help the Yankees' cause

Last Place?
No way! They always get into big slumps and somehow get out of them and make the playoffs. Look at the 2005 Yankees, we were saying the same thing at this time of year. They fought for first place up until the last game of the season when they beat the Red Sox.

The Red Sox are going to steam roll through the season and stomp whichever NL team finds the privelege to play against them in the World Series. The Yankees are a thing of the past...all empires crumble eventually. Get over it and focus on the Red Sox.

All I have to go on at this moment is what they're doing now, and history. Both say that there is a chance they could end up in last place. I doubt last, but I think people are expecting Clemons to save the season. If they continue to play the way they are, even if he played every other game they would still suffer. I say they wont make last place, but they wont make the playoffs either.

they have the team

they have been plagued by both the injury bug and the slump bug at the same time

its bad luck. and no they'll finish either 2nd or 3rd in the AL East, and miss the playoffs

this coming from a yanks fan

They won't be in last no matter how terrible they're playing now; however, they were never shy to spend millions on veterans and I believe they won't stop now (see Roger Clemens signing). I predict they'll sighn A-Rod to a lifetime deal and expect him to fill every roster spot, including bench players, in the lineup. Pitching? Mariano Rivera times 10.

Watch outttttt 162-0

No they won't... they can trade for 1/2 the guys in Philly to prevent that

No, they won't finish in last place in their division. In fact, when Wang, Pettitte, Mussina, and Clemens get it all going they will make a good run at the playoffs. They really don't need to add anything, they just need to get all their players healthy.
