I'm thinking of getting one of these (this weekend) as they're supposed to give a sheer look, fix shine and are somewhat better for your skin. I dont really want to try minerals as I had a bad experience with L'Oreal and Physicans Formula and I dont like the shimmery look alot of mineral powders have. I just dont feel right layering my face w/ powder when i can fix most of my problems (redness, shine) w/ a quick sweep of sheer powder or a tinted moisturizer. Can anyone help me please?

So TheBalm isnt very good? I'm just trying to find a somewhat cheaper tinted moistuizer until I can save fot the Perfekt one. I do have dry skin but it can get oily looking so what do you suggest?

You'll like the Perfekt tinted moisturizer better than TheBalm Shelter which tends to be for drier skintypes and heavier. The Perfekt also has anti-aging properties so it's good for your skin. If you are choosing powders I'd go with the Sue Devitt because it's a finer milled powder than the Almay.

Also, L'oreal and Physicians formula are not real minerals so you've actually not tried a true mineral makeup. Both are powder mixed with minerals not mineral foundations. Also, minerals aren't shiny if applied properly. Minerals are like gems, the more you buff them the shinier they get. True mineral brands with pure minerals are Jane Iredale, Youngblood, and Laura Mercier. Your mineral powder should only have 4-5 ingredients in it. All should be easily identified minerals not preservatives and fillers. Minerals are all about the application and the quality.

I know of a cheap one you didn't mention here but I tried it myself and I'm using it in between my other expensive tinted moisturizer. (Mark c-thru-u beautifying sheer tint SPF 15 for $8). It has a nice hint of color without making you look orange like most other tinted moisturizers and it sinks right into your skin. It works perfect on my combo/oily skin and I just add a sheer powder with a brush and it's perfect for an every day look. It's oil-free and contains grape seed, green tea extract, vitamins A, C, and E. I've been raving about this one since I tried it! I hope you rave about it too!!!
