The men wear frocks, and they paint their faces blue and throw telephone poles about in order to impress the womenfolk. They don't have a language, just a series of strange noises which they growl at each other. Their national recipe is ground sheep guts stuffed into sheep guts and boiled. They have annual Games which consist of throwing telephone poles about, burning down villages and massacring their natural enemies, the Scots. Strange people, but once you get to know them you'll move somehwere else. Anywhere else.

Yeah, the first two are pretty much true. No Crime? Maybe on Benbecula or something. Glasgow is a different story.

Scotland may have been a very Catholic country in the past (it was once described as the "Pope's Special Daughter"), but that was centuries ago. It's certainly not amongst the most Catholic countries in Europe today.

As a Scotsman who was born in Glasgow I think I might be able to answer your questions. First of all Scotland is beautiful, at least most of it! Like any other country there are parts that are not but areas such as the Trossachs, Ayrshire, Perthshire have superb scenery. As for friendly - well people say that a Scotsman would give you the sugar out of his tea! Glaswegians actually have the reputation as being the friendliest people in Scotland as well as being the most generous. The picture of crime and "murder in Maryhill" came from the 1950's when Glasgow was a different place from today. certainly there are still gangs in certain areas but that is true for all large cities. Scotland is well known for its large multi-cultural community which is why so many Indian and Chinese restaurants can be found there!!!!

No crime's a bit of bollocks but unless you manage to come across as though you think you're better than the natives we're friendly enough.
It is certainly beautiful though.

once I visited Scotland a pair of years in the past, i got here upon that particularly lots truthfully everyone I met exchange into friendly, yet no longer truthfully everyone. We stayed at a mattress & breakfast, and the owner exchange into quite cranky. aspects of the rustic are captivating, although this is cloudy lots of the time. aspects of the rustic are quite rocky, with out greenery. there is crime in Scotland, although this is no longer as undesirable as maximum places.
