I agree with the other poster - the Norsemen don't exactly rule the world do they ? You'd think that if the runes were half right they might.

To the believer. Among many ancient cultures (including the Isrealites) it was believed that words had power - letters had power. they almost had a will of their own. The Isrealites called it the ALPH - the Norse called it RUNES.
Each letter int he runic alphabet had more then just a sound to the Norse, it also had a connotation. Yew represented the sacred tree and so on. There is also a blank rune and a God RUne - which denotes importance in the reading. A person throws the runes in the air and then places the runes in a pattern to "read the will of the gods". There are a numebr of good books on the subject and also a number of websites.

First: no serious vitki or heathen would ever recommend Blum (*gag*) or uses a "blank" rune (a modern invention of Blum's with no historical veracity).
That said, define "work."
Runes, for the cultures in which they arose, were alphabet, charm, philosophical system, teaching method (there is a correspondence between the Elder Futhark and the Norse myth cycle recorded in the Voluspa) and *possibly* a divination tool . . . we know they were used to inscribe spells, but have no extant examples of them being used in fortune telling. So, yes, runes work for what they are FOR.
The rest is modern invention and supposition.

It is rune *staves*, and no, they don't work in the way you are asking.
What "works" is the human psyche in search of meaning through the symbols of the runes. The runes themselves are a tool. That is, the human brain can just as easily manifest the power of any rune symbol without the actual rune stave present. Any symbol by itself has no "power". It is the human tendency to give meaning to these symbols that makes them "powerful" for the user. That is, for one who does not believe in the Norse symbolism, rune symbols will mean nothing.

It depends in which way you mean, I do rune readings for myself and it always comes up with a helpfull insight with my interpretations of what I pick out but it depends what you mean.
The picking of the rune from the bag the one with the closest vibration to what you are asking will be the one you pick out so will therefore have a interesting insight onto what you are asking.
And no they are nothing to do with evil spirits i'm not sure where you got that from.

if you truly believe in something yes. if you only want to believe because somebody said they don't and you want to prove them wrong then no or anything else along those lines me as far as other worldly things I'm working on seeing things detailed at a distance moving things with my mind and teleportation. someone called me a fool for thinking those things can be done but they are worth doing and practicing isn't hard so why not if Ed could build coral castle by himself then why not. people can find startrek plausiable and they teleport on that and see things in great detail from a distance on that show and thats believable to some whats the difference they got technology no I don't think there is much difference. and all you have to do is practice how hard is it hold your hand out and tell and object to come to you think of a place you have never been but can easliy be walked to imagine as many details as you can then walk there which works great as a step to teleportation and viewing things at a distance. I can almost perfectly put myself in another place. before I moved to florida I knew what the building I was going to live in looked like down to the color knew it had a pool knew I was on the first floor knew there was three floors amongst other things like I said all you go to do is believe and not listen to other who say its foolish its ok they are blind thats all they have no sense of wonder and they will its like if you want it to rain the rains will come if you want the rains to part for awhile so that you can get something outside done the rains will part of course be sure and ask for the good rains and don't ask the rains not to come so as it causes drought if the plants become to dry the air will also show signs of the wear and it will be most stifling

Yes I can and do throw and read Rune-stones.
I can also write both ways using Norse Runic script.By both ways I mean the Runic alphabet and the method of using Runes to symbolise ideas.

"Rune" means "Secret"
So, one must unlock the Secret, before one finds out.
However, I`m certain they are as real as ANY sign of Faith.
And, when ones learns the Runes, one has added another language to their Knowledge of the MidWorld-never a bad thing.

As with all these things: i ching, tarot, etc. They are only a starting point, a way for you to discover the answer, which you already have within in, but need something outside yourself to show you.
Get the ... Blum version interpretation of Runes and see. He explains it very well.

People should be careful about what they read.......... All rune stone were used in ancient time to act as a way to entombed evil spirits. or used in a way to act a a warning beacons to those that came across it that a certain spirit or a certain area is possessed by evil and to get them to stay away or out of that area...... Those stones were either buried at sea to forever get rid of an evil spirit or in the ground, they were really an ancient stop sign. or a caution sign...... Some that were supposed to have trapped a real bad spirit were moved to other lands.. As a way to protect some ancient land from having these spirits from returning... I am sure there are a lot of different theories out there but what I said is basically what they were used for... Also they were used to prevent an evil spirit from crossing over them and entering into their villages........................................................................... They were also later use as mile markers or to give you the name of the place that you are entering.................................................................................
