This is a tough one... I love films. There are a few I watch over and over again and never tire of. But I think I could tire of "The Sixth Sense" eventually. And I will always love the original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", and Gene Wilder's performance, but I'm not sure that would be my favorite. Star Wars (A New Hope), Jaws, and Raiders of the Lost Ark refined films and saved the industry, and everything I liked in the eighties owes them a debt of gratitude-- but I don't actually own any of these films. I love the entire Lord of the Rings series by Peter Jackson, but there's something I love even more, when I see it on...
I'd have to say, "The Shawshank Redemption" is my absolute favorite. It's a great story about friendship and a decency that rises beyond law and judgment. In the last few moments, before the credits rise, you know that Andy and Red have gone through something that has forever altered their sense of family and society. Those two are family now, a part of each other in every sense.
Something in the way Red repeats, "I hope", makes me proud to be a human being.
