Anyone know how to reduce the depth of the drape in a cowl necked blouse ? It's a 2 piece sleeveless pattern by Newlook patterns, number 6470. It fits good except the cowl draping is way too low. Feel free to email with instructions.

The front is all one piece, the cowl being formed by a very wide neckline when the shoulders are joined, so raising the front up also raised up the height of the underarms.

Any suggestion on how to alter the pattern before I cut it out to decrease the width of the neckline?

You would make that adjustment at the shoulder. Cut out the pieces and mark the shoulder and side sewing lines with a pencil or a water soluble marker. Pin the top at the shoulder sewing lines, on the wrong side and put it on, inside out. Pin up the sides. Then pull the cowl pieces back where you need them to be, re-pin and carefully take it off. You can un-pin the sides permanently to get it off. Make sure you use the same shoulder sewing line on the back, but use your new one for the front.

A leather or denim needle will work. Suede isn't that hard to sew through. You must have a serger sewing machine to cut the fabric and overcast the edge. No regular sewing machine can do this.
