I was pondering that question this morning and couldn't think of a single one. Even the vaunted Greeks with their original democratic ideas were the product of many years of war. It would seem that the idea of peace, especially on a global level, is one that is more of a utopian dream than reality.

The impression I have is that those who preach peace are granted the ability to do that via the hard fights of others and have always been a minor subset of society. Not to say that it isn't a wholly desirable thing, but it doesn't seem to be a realistic way to think.

Canada? Are you serious? I believe you need to crack a history book, bub. There's nothing peaceful about Canada's past....and that's a government that was essentially granted with intervention from England.

No. The power of any government is ultimately based on the threat of force. Even if that threat has never been carried out, it is there.
