You are in love with the person in your past not in your reality. When the person physically enters your reality is the start of the test of a continued or renewed love. Until then it is only a fantasy of wishful thinking.

Yes it is. There is a woman in my past that I have had no contact with in over 30 years and I love her as deeply as I did on the day she walked out of my life. My fault, not hers.
If regrets were dollars, I would be a very rich man.

I don't think so, you may have some very happy memories of how it felt to love someone that much, but in over 30 years people change so much that it just would not be the same.

After 12 years of not seeing what was an acquaintance I saw this man and stopped breathing, I was so taken aback. We have been together 4 years and have a 2 year old boy.

Since this is in the marriage & divorce category, I assume that either you are married or she is married or both more than likely.
It isn't love, it is a fantasy. With this person through emails you do not have to deal with money problems, or housework, or work problems. All you have is the email and that person can be perfect to you. But that person is not perfect. She still farts, her poo stinks and she wakes up in the morning with bad breath. Bottom line, it is all a fantasy.

sweetness I am older but this is how I feel times change we do to and for you to even think you love some one you must get to know them over again and be careful at it talk to your mom and bring him only home around your family and the e mail is ok but it does not let us truly know someone . be very safe. mom will know

It's more likely you love the memory, and not the person because being apart for 30 yrs, you cannot know "who" they are today (and email doesn't reveal enough).
