Some, just to talk to themselves (you can limit who's allowed to view the blog), some to talk to others and showcase themselves. A blog can be used for various purposes. One of my clients has a blog they use to publish answers to questions they've received: thus they use it for public education, and their blog is part of a larger website.

That's a good question! I have a couple that I never make additions to, so in my case, it's a waste of time.
I have read some excellent blogs online, though. There are some very interesting and talented writers around. I particularly enjoy the gossip blogs; some of them are a hoot!

Because they think people actually care to read what they think. I've only seen like 2 good blogs on the 'net, and not good enough to make me keep wanting to come back. I guess people just don't realize nobody cares what they think.

People have blogs for a lot of reasons. Some people write about their dreams. Some people write about politics. Some people write reviews of movies, albums, tv shows, or technical gadgets. Some people try to be funny. And, of course, some people use them as diaries.
Blogging seems to be a nice creative outlet for some people.

its like a diary and probably let ppl know about their lives and know they arnt alone with their feelings and such
