i have been reading alot of questions, and answers. and I've noticed one thing that has me confused. maybe someone can help me with this.
if a woman gets preganant, and chooses to end the pregnancy users call her a "baby killer" and other things. i understand you have a right to your opinion, but thats not what confuses me.
if a woman who is pregnant, decides that abortion is wrong, wants to continue the pregnancy but has a limited source of income, and asks a question about public assistance some of the same users say "get off public assitance, get a job, stop using tax payers money".
now thats the confusing part. wouldnt a person who is against abortion be for public assistance when it comes to saving a baby? i really want to know because im confused.

Good observation! I think the best answer is most related to moral responsibility and I mean on everyone's part. Men and women who do not want or cannot support a child should be taking the steps to prevent pregnancy. Sex is going to happen. Unwanted pregnancies are going to happen so it is up to society to provide the proper solutions... If abortion is unacceptable then maybe adoption is the solution. If the couple or woman wants to keep the baby then it is the responsibility of society to provide basic necessities to help the woman to support the welfare of the child. There are things in place for those who qualify at little cost to society to provide food, shelter and basic needs to women, child and families in need. Child bearing is not only for those who can afford it. There are unexpected cost when raising a child that can hit any family hard. There are also those cases where the welfare system is strained by people and families that are having multiple children but have no means of supporting those children so they expect society to continue to support their ignorance. I will not say that people do not have a right to have children but I will say that everyone has a moral responsibility to society to help each other within reason...

I, who personally am against, abortion would never call someone a "baby killer". Although I would never get an abortion myself, I can't criticize or judge someone who does. Second public assistance is ok it is just that many many people take advantage of the system. For those that have many children and don't have a job, aren't looking for a job, and yet keep on having children irresponsibly. I think that if a mother and/or father wish to give the child a chance as a family I would be more than welcome to help them out with my tax money. It is the future of our children that is the issue. In many cases however, if a family is considering abortion, I think that putting that child up for adoption would be the best solution.
So I guess that the answer to you question is:
you would think so huh? I guess some people don't think very logically sometimes.

I agree completely with you. And it really doesn't make any sense. Some people on here just want to bring others down, it seems like.
I don't think government assistance is a bad thing at all. I think it is great... as long as it is not abused. The reason I say this is I was laid off after my employer found out I was pregnant (already talked to a lawyer and no way to prove that it was because of my being pregnant) So I lost my insurance and income. I have had 2 jobs since then, both of which let me go as soon as they found out about my "condition". I am on unemployment and medicaid until the baby is born. (because we cannot survive on one income) Abortion was NO way an option for me, and I am very grateful that I have these other resources to help me through this time.
and as far as the young girls getting pregnant, from my personal experience... it seems to me that they either 1.) dont care if they get pregnant 2.) WANT to get pregnant to keep that guy... or 3.) are ignorant about the possibility of getting pregnant - In these cases, I dont think they should get an abortion... but I do feel sad for the baby because it is not a stable environment. If a person feels as if there is no way they could care for a baby, adoption is ALWAYS an option. There are women out there that have tried to have a baby for years and cant.

I would first say if you think that you can not provide for your child then you may want to consider adoption...If you dont want to do that I say...if you are a tax payer who works and pay taxes then you can fully use the government assistance programs...the only time i dont agree w/ people using them is if they are able to work and wont or they are illegal....I pay taxes and my taxes could be well used in my household but it goes to the government assistance..i just dont want my money going to those who abuse the system...if i were working and for some reason or another could not make ends meet i would use the program knowing that I am working and trying my best....
I hope this helps you understand my point of view on the situation you have mentioned!!!

I totally agree with you. Some of the people on here are hypocritical when it comes to answering questions. I am not against abortion because I can say that I've had one and regret it. People have to make their own mistakes and learn from them. What is bad for me may be perfect for someone else. However, I am also for public assistance. If you need it get it. Dont worry about what someone on here is saying because the one thats talking down on you is probably the one getting food stamps, living in the projects, and on welfare!!

Some people are judgemental. YOu can't change that. If you come on here (a public venue) and ask a potentially controversial question, ya gotta take the good with the bad. Actually, I don't really see a connection between anti public assitance people and pro-life people. Those are two different views that have nothing to do with one another. I myself am Pro-life and support public assistance when necessary. My best friend is Pro-choice and is anti-public assistance. Go figure.

That is not really a question. you just want people to think from your point of view.
I support abortion that is controlled. It is not because I want to see a baby die, but because it is a better death than the life it could have. Mothers in countries where it is illegal still go to back alley doctors where they use dirty coat hangers and such to get out the fetus, which in turn may kill a 13 year old girl. Mothers are dropping their babies in garbage cans after birth, or leaving them outside with no shelter. Parents are shaking their screaming children to quiet them, and hitting them brutally in their frustration. This happens before the child turns 5 when their is little intervention.
Children, babies and toddlers left home alone while a single mom goes out to party.
I am more sad for the lives of these children, that Death is a better alternative to a life we have no knowledge or control of.
If you ever hear of a woman who Say's she chooses not to have kids, give her your full support instead of saying she will change her mind, cause for some women it is better to never have child.

I too am confused on that, I just don't understand people. I think that it is peoples choice. If they feel they need to have an abortion than that is they right, only they know there situation and only they can make that decision. But if they want to keep they baby and can get on public assistance than more power to them, that is what it is there for.
I do not think that it is anyone elses business or decision to make. People need to do what is best for them.

Bc they're judgemental jerks who group everyone who uses public as lazy bums that have sex, get pregnant and use public ***. as an escape route bc they dont have a job. Which is ENTIRELY not true. My ma was on wic and had a job. So theres proof there. I know when i get a job ill still have to be on govt programs bc im a single ma and what i get for child support barely gets my son anything! So the people who think that have a stick up their butt. I admit sum ppl take advantage of the help.. But not all.

Very good point indeed. But most likely those people are just trying to say, take responsibility for your actions. Public assistance isn't taking responsibility...its relying on others for that. Of course it wouldn't be such an issue if the public assistance programs weren't so overly abused.
