eBay sells a lot of replacement monitors, its just a matter of if you have the technical know-how to do the replacement yourself. Otherwise, it would be cheaper to buy a new one.

Unless you still have warranty on your laptop, it will not be worth fixing it because it could range from 500 dollars to 1500 dollars, depending on the size of the screen and the type of screen. So I would suggest just buying a brand new laptop. If you still want to fix it, call your manufacture, or go to their website for more information on what you can do. Also, you could attach an external monitor with an expansion port which will cost between 125 dollars to 500 dollars.

There is no way to fix a cracked LCD screen. It would need to be replaced. Check the web site of the manufacturer and you should be able to get an idea of the price for one. Also check e-bay to what they really sell for online.
Then compare that to the cost of a new laptop and make your decision.

The screen is the most expensive piece on a laptop. It's probably best to ebay yours for parts and put the money into a new machine.

my suggestion is try ebay. if and only if you are comfortable repairing them. in most cases it's not that big of a deal, and you can usually get great manuals from your computer's manufacturers web site. Dell has manuals a ten year old can follow. I replaced one on an older dell laptop about a year ago and it cost me $70 and took about 10 minutes to change.

The screen can be replaced. But with the money being spent on a new one (and your girl's laptop sounding obsolete), I recommend she buys a new one.

yes, do a search for laptop parts using your model number or name brand, or maker.... price hum... for about a 15.4 inches you may pay about $200 new...but if you have no idea about your computer insides do not open it! ask your friends or find a local shop once you get your screen...good luck!!

It's possible, but you're looking at $500+
If it's an older machine, you're definitely better off with a new machine.
