It doesnt hurt to try. Im sure that they would assume that nothing has progressed as of yet, that is why they havent, but if you want them to, by all means, ask

You can ask, but that won't garauntee they'll do it. It depends on their own policy. Contrary to popular belief, it is not required they check your cervix. A lot of docs are now not checking unless they feel its medically necessary (pre-term labor symptoms). Checking the cervix opens up the possibility of infection, irritation, bleeding, cramping, contractions, and even labor. You most definately should not be checking your own. Its not a big deal if they don't check it. One reason is, that they could check you and you be closed and no effacement, but you go home and tomorrow be in full blown labor. Checking the cervix only shows where you are at that particular time. It doesn't predict anything. When you think about it that way, it really doesn't even seem necessary. Best of luck.

You can but honestly the only reason they check is to see if your body is doing anything at all. It really has no bearing on when you will go into labor and you could end up walking around dilated to 4 and 50% effaced for weeks before going into labor. If your body is preparing for labor, things will most likely start to happen but there are some women, like myself, who only get a slightly softened cervix and stay barely dilated, if at all, until they go into full blown labor so I honestly don't see the hype about having it checked. Ask and good luck with your labor whenever it starts!

If this is your first baby, it is probably too early to start checking your cervix. Some doctors start checking at 36 weeks, some don't start until 38 weeks. It depends on who your doctor is. If you're seeing a midwife, they might not check until the very end.

You can ask, and they might check. But you are only 35 weeks not yet full term. So don't expect any major results from the check on your cervix.

while you're unhappy inclusive of your wellbeing care expert, then i might paintings difficult to discover a sparkling one. Even some family practitioners grant toddlers and take medicaid. Get out your checklist of medicaid docs & start up calling each and every of the OB's and such and asking in the event that they are accepting new medicaid sufferers. Then once you detect one, flow forward and make an appointment to be sure them asap, get your scientific documents transferred to them from the old dr's workplace (you oftentimes might desire to flow sign a launch of documents there), and start off with the recent checklist asap. be valuable to tell the recent wellbeing care expert each and every thing that has long previous on, issues that have & have not been performed & what your concerns are. clarify you're no longer attempting to be puzzling, yet which you have been feeling that the different wellbeing care expert only did no longer have the time or desire to look once you in the time of your being pregnant.

How bout leave it alone! Unless there is a problem don't go making one. They don't check that til your in labour, why would they do it before. A bodily process will happen before your cervix opens enough to give birth and if your lucky will take 8-10hrs til baby appears. Get some reading material so you know what's goin on, cause quite clearly you've no idea. Do you and your baby a favour and don't fiddle! All the best.

You can ask, but my doctor doesnt' start checking my cervix until I'm 36 weeks pregnant. There's really no need to start checking it now.

Absolutely, You should feel you can ask your doctor anything. At your appointment, let them know your concerns and reasons for wanting your cervix to be checked out.
They will probably check it for you, or answer any questions or give you any information about your cervix if they feel it is not necessary.

"we think it's a good and empowering thing for a woman to check her own cervix for dilation. This is not rocket science, and you hardly need a medical degree or years of training to do it. Your vagina is a lot like your nose- other people may do harm if they put fingers or instruments up there but you have a greater sensitivity and will not do yourself any harm.
"The best way to do it when hugely pregnant is to sit on the toilet with one foot on the floor and one up on the seat of the toilet. Wash your hands first. Put two fingers in and go back towards your bum. The cervix in a pregnant woman feels like your lips puckered up into a kiss. On a non-pregnant woman it feels like the end of your nose. When it is dilating, one finger slips into the middle of the cervix easily (just like you could slide your finger into your mouth easily if you are puckered up for a kiss). As the dilation progresses the inside of that hole becomes more like a taught elastic band and by 5 cms dilated (5 fingerwidths) it is a perfect rubbery circle like one of those Mason jar rings that you use for canning, and about that thick.
"What's in the centre of that opening space is the membranes (bag of waters) that are covering the baby's head and feel like a latex balloon filled with water. If you push on them a bit you'll feel the baby's head like a hard ball (as in baseball). If the waters have released you'll feel the babe's head directly.
"It is time for women to take back ownership of their bodies."
-Gloria Lemay, Vancouver, BC
I'm 34.5 weeks and I checked my cervix and I'm about 2-3 cm dilated. You should try it, its very exciting to feel the baby's head in there... just don't tell your husband he might freak out and not want to have sex till after the baby is born. :)

You can ask, they might be planning to check it anyway. Please don't check it yourself at this point! You risk infection or other problems when you are pregnant, even if you are experienced in checking it in the past.
They waited a long time to check mine, I expected to be checked much sooner, but I'm thinking it was 36 or 37 weeks.
