The A.L. East is totally overrated. Boston is the only strong team and I expect the arms to fall off their pitchers by late summer. Their pitchers are on hot streaks, even old Wakefield is winning, but their starters have not shown consistency over a full MLB season and the bullpen is thin.
I went to a Nationals game this month. They have good young players and enthusiastic fans. Most of their roster has come recently out of their farm system. They play hard and have good fundamentals.
The Royals are a low budget team but have a very potent lineup. They won't win a division but they make every game interesting. They are the spoiler team in a very rough division.

Tired of the Yankees and Red Sox?? Hell ya.
Want to know something good about the Nationals and the Royals?
When you look at the cost per win based on salary, both teams are WAY ahead of both the Red Sox and the Yankees.
It takes them considerably less money to get a win than it does for a team from NY or NE.
Now, pass me the 10 points :)

I have nothing ggod to say about either team, sorry. What I can say is I live in NY, my fiance is a Red Sox Fan, my step daughter a Yankee fan, my oldest son a Mets fan and my younger son is a Cubs fan. We all get along. As far as I'm concerned I hate the game. All of the annyoing fans need to growup and realize that it's a game.
I'm not trying to start a war with baseball fans out there. Just pointing out that there are some (who seem to be the ones posting questions) who get to carried away.

The Royals are a once-proud franchise. I hope they can rebound from their annual losing seasons. George Brett was one of the classiest players around when I grew up. They do have a good core of young players coming up hopefully they'll rebound.
The Nationals/former Expos also were very successful at first. Andrew Dawson, Tim Raines, many great stars over the years. They need to be patient with their young players now and with new ownership they'll be able to compete for free agents.

The main reason no one hates on the Nationals or the Royals is because neither team has had a really great team and you can't get a rival if you don't have a team that can compete with anyone regularly. i don't like the nationals because they shouldn't have moved from montreal. I don't like the royals because come on, why a name like the royals? why not the kings or something like that? the royals... sheesh

You don't see questions about them because they aren't very good teams.
And look at their markets.
The Royals haven't been good in a very long time.
And the Nationals have never been good.
I did love George Brett when I was growing up.
Now about the Nationals....umm...I like Nick Johnson.
Thinks he's a damn fine player...just wish he could stay injury-free for once.
