Yes, we have this crazy gene that makes us actually care about right and wrong. They voted Dem because the Reps were screwing up Iraq, we needed change, and so we voted differently.

No, I think it was because they wandered so far from the values of conservatives. The loss in the past election was not a mandate for the Democrats, it was a direct result of conservatives refusing to vote for the Republicans that strayed .

It's part of a natural cycle, like "global warming". Almost everytime a second term president is halfway through that second term, the opposition party wins more seats. It's regular as clockwork, just like every administration wants its own people as US Attorneys. Democrats are trying to make a big deal out of it, but it's really nothing unusual. Too bad for them.
