Sounds like you've already invested a lot of yourself in this job. Do you really want to throw it all away with less than a month left?? Yeah, it sucks that you more than likely put your request in earlier than your co-worker, but life is rarely fair. Me? I'd stick with the job. A vacation can be postponed and taken at a later date. Suck it up and welcome to the adult world.

This is a tough one. Considering you have put this much time into the company you can either a) go on vacation as planned and ditch the internship or b) walk away from this internship that you have worked so hard for the past 11 months with a solid reference that may help you land a better job in the future.
I once chose the vacation but I now regret it because I did not feel I could list that company as a reference. You do not say how old you are but I am sure you are young enough to take a vacation later and old enough to realize sometimes work will have to come first.

This is actually a very easy question to answer. You don't punch someone - you punch a pillow. You don't walk out of there. You stick it out for the final month. You don't tear your boss a new one - you smile and say nice things to her since you will someday need her for a reference.
You don't count the fact that you haven't taken a vacation - you're an intern. You don't wonder why your boss hasn't put your interests at the top of her list - you're an intern. Even if you are angry that another intern got more attention, you are still an INTERN so suck it up.
Being an intern means learning on the job. You have. You will leave, if you do leave the organization (I guess they could always offer you a job), you will leave with the very important lesson you have learned, which is never to pay for and plan a vacation until you've been granted the vacation time.
I'd scream bloody murder too, but it would be to a friend who is totally unrelated to the job. At the end of an hour, I'd pay her $50 for sitting there and listening to me scream. If I needed more time for venting, I'd pay her another 50 and let 'er rip.
You're aim in the job world is yes, yes, to like what you do and feel fulfilled in your work, blah, blah, blah, but it is also more mundane concerns like job security, references, tasks to complete for your resume and help in going forward in your career.
None of the above is helped by telling your boss how wrong she is even if she is.
Been there. Didn't do that. Wisely avoided doing that.

Go to your boss and explain. I am SURE if this lady has any heart at all, she will understand. The company can get along without you both for ONE day I'm sure. It's only 8 hours. I know it will be hard to talk to your boss about it, but you're going to be out time and money if you don't go. Back up your argument with explaining how you haven't taken off any time in a year and any other good things you've done. I hope your boss will see that you deserve 2 measly days off! Hope you get it and have a great vacation!

You should go to your supervisor and tell her what you just told the internet, but use your words tactfully. Don't go in with a hostile attitude because that would only make matters worse. After all you are there on an internship. The vacation is pleasure, the internship, I am assuming is for your future career endeavors. If she doesn't back down, then graciously take your leave, and then make your decision. If you decide to leave do it in a way that you can always come back, or in a way that doesn't undermine the work that you've done.

go back to ur boss and tell her u asked for this 2 months ago and you feel you should be able to go. since she took so long to say anything you had made plans and paid already and you will be going. say sorry for any problems this has caused. you might lose ur job over this. most places u have to be there a year to get a vacation and u havent been there a year yet. your co worker may have already been there that long or longer...

I would approach her and tell her that you were sure you put in first. Remind her of how long you have been there and haven't had a day off. If she still says no, I think I would probably try and find another job with an employer that cared about his employees and allowed them some time off. I don't think I would have pre-paid for a vacation that I wasn't sure of whether I would be getting off or not. See if you can get your money back if you don't go. Good luck.

Some people have been working there longer than you so they have seniority over you. If you already paid for it then looks like you will lose something. I would call in sick and take my vacation it is only 2 days have your mom wife or girlfriend do and say it was something you ate. I never use email to ask for a vacation. I go up to them and ask them.

I would sit down and have a talk with her. If you are interning, it is probably not a good idea to just walk out. Why didn't you just ask her in person? Why email her? Anyways, talk to her and explain that you really wanted to go...and that you don't think it's fair if you asked before your coworker and your coworker got the day off. If worse comes to worse, call in sick that day...she can't prove you weren't sick:OP

Patience.
dont punch anybody you'll get in trouble!
Dont waste 11 months because your angry!
i know it is so easy to say that but try to hang to what you have!!!!!
Nag and keep nagging and keep nagging but in a nice way show that you wont give up the vacation what so ever
be "a pain in her ears" but in a gentle way dont be mean!
and just give your co-worker a dissapointement look!!!
Hope it works!!!!
