If the stem browns up and gets brittle, cut it off. If it stays green and supple, leave it. It might flower again.

relies upon on the orchid. Moth orchids could branch and convey greater blooms on old spike, yet this occurs interior some months of the final bloom falling...longer than that, chop it off. good good fortune.

Only if it turns brown and drys out, be sure and only cut the spike not the plant.

you can cut the flower spike at the base and discard it, but don't do anything else to the plant itself
