He had some hits here in the us (i.e. "Living Inside Myself" and "I Just Wanna Stop"), but was not a huge success.

I know someone who lives in the Detroit area who is a huge Gino Vanelli fan; she even started her own fan club for/about him.

He was born in Montreal.

I remember 2 songs from him in the 70's, each I had on a record (45rpm). I liked his sound, but haven't heard from him in many years. I didn't know he was from Canada.

Funny you should ask...not only was he popular in the USA with hits like "I just want to stop (and tell you how I'm feeling about you babe)", I just saw him on a "Classic" Soul Train episode (the "Hip" version of American Bandstand)...if you're White and can make it there...you've achieved popularity in America.
