That's how Yankee fans are and always will be. They can't admit that the Yankess stink this year. I am a Braves fan and I will admit that the Braves haven't been good for a couple of years now. I will admit it, but Yankee fans won't. They have to bring up the Yankees history. Who cares that's the past. I hope the Yankees never win another pennant and the Braves wins many more.

Even though all those titles are from last millennium, they feel the need to throw around history.
Up through 2004 they liked to chant "1918" to taunt the Sox - the last year they had won the championship until 2004.
That became irrelevant in 2004. So they now like to say "26-1" when talking about world championships. Apparently the arbitrary line they draw in the sand discounts that the Sox won 5 other championships prior to 2004. Yes 26-6 is still a tremendous lead but in reality only Yankees, A's and Cardinals have won more championships than Boston.
Bottom line the Yankees cling to their history because unfortunately that is all they have this season.

The yanks fans have a very long and magnificent history but so did the Roman Empire. As far as their 26 fall classics championships. 17 were before air travel became popular at that time it took a week to get to St Louis or Chicago by train. In recent years they can take some comfort in the fact starting with the year 1958 they still lead the pack with 8 followed by their old Brooklyn Bums with 5 or if they want to count 1955 (6), the Cards have 4 and their old farm team The A’s have 4 also. They haven’t won the big one in 6 years and it is and the year now is 2007 not 1927. This year they are in a tight race for last place. It kind of like coming home from work and finding you wife has left you.

After the Yankees received swept by way of the Red Sox, I did not believe they deserved the correct to enter an over-hyped sequence with the Mets and weigh down them. But, 2 wins is 2 wins, so we're going to take them. Besides, the sequence wasn't really the equal besides, with Beltran, Reyes, and Delgado out of the lineup for the Mets. Regardless, they could were prime scoring video games with the excellent lineup in baseball (Yankees) in opposition to an ok Mets lineup.

There's a point.
The Yankees are not a bad team...they don't not "suck".
They are having a bad year. Playing poorly.
On paper it's one of the best teams.
But due to injuries of 3 of the Starting 5 going into the season...that set them back.
The Starting Pitching has gotten much better...but just the bats are clicking right now.
Now please stop making this kinda of topics....I mean it is kinda obvious that the team isn't playing well. We don't need 10 topics on the same subject.

Yankee fans are like fans everywhere, they want to see their team win. When you are not used to losing you will come up with anything to defend your team. I am not a Yankee fan but I am not ready to write them off just yet. Their hitting will come around and when Wang, Pettitte, Mussina, and Clemens came back as a group and get everything working, I believe they will make a run before the end of the season.

Because everything in sports is about titles. Every team is remembered by how many titles they have won. Yes it is very aggrevating when someone can't admit their team stinks and pulls out the "how many titles has your team won" statement. Everyone is taught not to live in the past, but when it comes to sports its the norm. Ask those same yankee fans for how many of those 26 titles were they alive to witness. My guess would be about 3 or 4. Yankee fans need to realize they can't win titles by money alone, they have to start developing talent within the organization. By the way Roger Clemens is not the savior, he is just stealing money from George!!!!!!

Why do people like you keep posting Yankee bashing questions? WTF would you do without the Yankees?
What? Would there be no one in baseball for you to hate?
Grow up and find a new topic this one is dead already.
The Yankees are bad for the first time in 13 years. It was bound to happen at some point.
