When you start talking about length and weight statistics of reptiles, you can really get into an argument. In this case I think the deciding factor would be weight.

Most people would say the saltwater croc is the "largest" reptile. It reportedly can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds. The leatherback sea turtle is also reported to weigh as much as 2,000 pounds. So it appears to be a tie.

The problem is that the size of large animals is often based on estimates (it's hard to weigh a large salty that may be over 20 feet long). That's why we get reports of 60-foot anacondas.

Bottom line, both the salty and the leatherback are very large animals.
