I would say for some countries the end of the Cold War has not done that much to reshape their politics. Take a look at North and South Korea. Only small changes have occurred.
Take a look at China and Taiwan - both countries have advanced economically, buy politically they are in the same position as they were in 1950. The Republic of China, and the People's Republic of China. Lastly, there seems to be no change whatsoever in America's treatment of Cuba.

Communism has failed and all the petty dictators that USA has supported against Soviet Union set loose. Look at Saddam. He attack Kuvait as soon as the S.U fell apart. USA became the dominant force in the world, economicly and military speaking. But not for long , China and Europian Union are the next superpowers.
