I think because she was biracial and because of that yes, they probably thought she was ugly...but the whole immigration thing too or they people in the audience wouldn't have stopped when she spoke to them in Spanish...
It is tacky to insult one person for things he or she can't change but lots of people do it...
And don't say MEXICANS did it, but those idiotic people in the audience who are not every Mexican person...if you say that you are being just like them...
What I found more disturbing was that there was plenty of internet footage of her slipping (I have been in several pageants and I believe they put something on the floor), but very little of her dignified save in the face of booing...
And the amount of coverage for Miss Japan...hmmm...every other countries website featured THEIR OWN queen more prominently than Miss Japan, but not here...
And this was on the AMERICAN websites....
Very telling indeed....
Just racist.
That poor girl...what a night..

I think the biggest underlining reason was because of the illegal immigrant issue....do not think that the luke warm relationship we had with Mexico before all this started will warm anytime in the near future... And the booing of a person like that happens everywhere in every cultlure...but to go as far as say that a specific group all thinks that was is ridiculous.....poor taste, definately...

Miss USA was booed because the contest was in Mexico, and many Mexicans feel that U.S. immigration policies are unfair and unjust.

politics. she was booed simply because she was representing usa. as we all know, our government has long fought against immigration from the mexican border. it was not a personal attack against miss usa but the policies of the usa.

It's all politics and the fact that she was placed in the top 5 and not Mexico.
It happened in '93 when Miss Universe was held in Mexico. Miss Mexico wasn't placed while Miss USA was and they booed her.

It was because Miss USA fell during the evening gown part of the competition and still made the top 5. Miss Mexico did great in the evening gown portion and did not make the top 5. They felt cheated.

I was reading on Yahoo news yesterday....they booed her because they feel America is not treating immigrants fairly.(bull to me.) They protested outside the pagent as well concerning poor treatment of women. The whole pagent had all kinds of issues....such as Miss USA falling on her behind and Miss Japans crown slipping off her head, also they made Miss Mexico change one of her dresses because the pattern involved some violent scenes, Miss Sweden dropped out of the pagent at the last minute all together......lol...wild.

Because Mexicans feel that us Americans and our government doesn't show them true authority and respect. They love America so much, yet boo and discrimante against us. If we send them back to Mexico, they'll wish they never had troubled us. Not trying to sound mean, but it's the truth.
