When it's on vent, & especially when the AC is on - it's funky. I have an 05 & it has always had this problem. My guess is it is mildew; the car was on the lot possibly most of 1 year before I bought it. What is the part I need to look at & possibly get replaced so I can remedy this - it sucks!

have your ac system checked by a certified mechanic and then he should be able to tell you what the problem is and how much to fix .

Any number of things could be the culprit from mildew to an animal could have gotten on the hood and peed down in there. Changing the filter should do the trick.

An 05 should have a filter in the control box on passenger side, get a hepa filter to replace it, and stick an air freshener you like in there before you close it up until the residue dries up.

Could be mildew, but i use that have this old Jeep 1976, and whenever the heat was on it smelled bad. Apparently a mouse had crawled in there and died, and that was the smell. Got rid of the mouse, never had a problem again!

In modern ACs there's a filter you must replace every one or two years. Probably you will find that in the manual, if not, ask the dealer, he will have the part.

You need to replace the air filters for your ac system...i have had this problem...you can take it to any detailing place, better yet, if you have a warranty you can take it to the dealership and they will clean it up...its pretty cheap

It's because maybe:
1. your body odor contaminated the air vents like sweats, perfumes, etc.
2. maybe you spilled something in your car like food, drinks etc.
3. you smoke
4. you drink beers
5. you didn't maintain your car carefully
6. there's a dead animal in your engine
7. you don't air fresheners
8. there is something in the air vents
9. your car air filter is dirty

The smell is probably from the dead prostitute you carted around for a weekend before you fed the body to Mr. Cho's pigs.

My suggestion is to stop picking up prostitutes in your car. Borrow your dad's car next time.
