http://fxmpegwriter.com/

This is what I use , its slow , but free and it works well. If the avi file is not divx you should be able to use your dvd burning software , I use Nero and use the file as is. If its divx , then run it thru fxmpegwriter first.

Regarding your avi quiestion... It's correct what some of the others say.. You don't have to convert it to get it over to a DVD... You could use ; NERO....... But remember... It does not always work out. - And that is because of errors in the download, or sometimes small "viruses" in the movies. So if Nero "says no" after trying to burn it, you have to see it on your pc or downolad it again....

Roxio easy media creator is probably what you're looking for www.roxio.com - they usually have a 30 day trial, more than enough time to experiment and get it down to disc! Use the mydvd application =)

Yes "ConvertXtoDVD" does take some time. This is why you get excellent and consistent results from that application. Personally I would rather the application take a long time, than to go quickly and have an inferior result. You can tweak "ConvertXtoDVD" to operate a little faster. Click the "settings" menu tab, then click on "encoding" in the window that pops up. Then select "low quality --- short encoding time" in the "encoding quality --- speed" area. U can also select "time critical" in the "conversion priority" area.
