Like everybody else, I was propagandized to believe that the Civil War was the right thing to do to keep the Union together. But it was wrong. The South should have been allowed to secede. Slavey would have died out on its own, the soil was exhausted from tobacco and cotton and it (slavery) would have been useless on dryer land like Texas. The South has very primitive religion, it is a cancer that has doomed America--the country will not be getting out of the grave that Mr. Bush and Southern "Christians" have dug for it. Truly, when a cancer asks to get out of your body by all means, let it go. The South has never been anything but a burden for normal people, keeping it was a horrible mistake and now the country will die because of keeping it and its defective culture and religion in the body politic.

Very different and I can't, even as a Southerner, say it would be better...

Right now the South is growing as the North loses population. This endless rehash of an old grievance shows people are really out of touch.

There would be two countries that hated eachother sharing a border. Look at how that's worked out in the rest of the world.

It would have been a lot better. The northern cities would not have been turned into the slums that they are today had the south won.

The south can't get much worse than it is today, so I would say not very different down there. The north would be a much worse place though.

Education, environment, foreign affairs that don't include WMDs, respect, and proper english would all be thrown out the window.

More slaves from Africa would be brought over from Africa, until the whole US was filled with Blacks and few whites. Like it is in the DEEP SOUTH. There are more blacks than whites.
