My 5month old is on a schedule and has been since the day he was born. It works out great! During the day he eats every 3-4 hrs and he sleeps through the night 10-12 hrs sometimes longer and has been doing this since about 2 months old.

At your son's age feeding on demand works. But as they get older it doesnt work quite as well. I have a routine and guess what, my son sleeps 12-13 hours a night and eats every 4-5 hours.

I usually feed on demand but my 7 week old daughter is kind of on a 3-4 hour schedule all on her own. But if she is hungry before the 3 hour in between I just feed her. IF she's hungry, she's hungry what can I do.

I am breastfeeding my 3 month daughter. We usually feed on demand. But she also is kind of on a "schedule" now. She usually eats about every 3-4 hours.

I have my son on a routine it so much better he eats every 3 hours and i can schedule my day around his feedings. I know when it'll be time for his feeding so I'll do my chores and shower etc... wish you the best of luck with your baby.

I feed on demand and it works for me. Some people really like to put their children on strict schedules but I am not one of them. You have to do what is best for your family.

at 10 wks it kinda hard to keep a schedule...but having a schedule is easier on you and your child...I always fed my son like every 3-4 hours then it was just every 4 hrs...my sister did not do a scheduel w/ her son and he would eat like 2 oz her and 2 oz there and then she made it to were she put him on a 3.5 hr schedule and it made it so much easier on her and her son seeemed to be happier.... You son sound like he has put himself on a little schedule so you dont need to change it just stay consistant!!
I did not keep this schedule at night time...if he slept i let him sleep i never woke him up to eat from day 1!!

I only feed my daughter when she was hungry. I didn't see any reason in waking her up just because it had been so long since the last time she'd feed. You and him both need your sleep.

On-demand is best, it teaches babies to follow their own cues and trust themselves. It helps develop self-esteem and healthy eating habits. Good for you mom! Keep it up!
